Reassembly Required
Solo exhibition | CSI Project Space, Chicago
Reassembly Required are works composed of elements from an array of previously assembled works. Similar to collage-making, disparate parts are gathered and then reassembled into new forms. Additionally, works are installed or bound with little planning because improvisation is key and the mode of operation.
Shaking things up and stirring them around—the cutting, mixing, and reassembling of images, compositions, type, language, and structures—is the process. At the opening, there were images, snippets of design work from previous projects, and blank paper of varying stocks to select and have bound (during super quick binding demos) for booklets and notebook takeaways.
